SciTech Explorer’s hands-on Science & Technology Courses (for 7yrs-old to 14 yrs-old) has went through an overhaul in Year 2006 after running for 6 years at the CCs.

SciTech Explorer’s courses focus on skills developing, not so much on academic results. Skills such as hands-brains coordination, application of science theories, technical know-how, design and development, creative thinking, problem solving and trouble shooting. These skills will stay with that person and become his/her assets once acquired. There is no shortcut; skills can only be acquired through continuous doing and practicing.

With the technical experience and know how, SciTech Explorer is developing a programme with more than 100 courses. The Programme is named: STARS Zone™ (which stands for Science, Technical, Assortment, Robotics and Solar). The aim is to provide the children the opportunities and exposures to acquire and perfect different sets of skills. The learning environment should arouse the children’s interest and create genuine understanding in Science. These courses definitely compliment and enhance their learning in school.

With so many courses offered, it is therefore quite tough for parents to monitor their children’s learning progress. With the development of the LEARNING JOURNEY™ [LJ in short] kit, parents can now do it with ease.

The LJ kit allows busy parents to plan and upgrade their children grading within each STARS Zone™ by completing the necessary requirements. A badge for each zone will be presented for those children who have finished all the courses within a zone. Furthermore, points are earned for every course attended which can be used for redemption of gifts, products or even training sessions. More details will be provided in the LJ kit.

The LJ kit comprises of an identification cum recognition tag, a 20-pocket folder, with a story-line cum colouring and information of all courses arranged according to the STARS Zone™ order and in full colour.

Parents who want their children to acquire life-long skills that could strengthened their children competitive advantage in the future should get hold of a LJ kit (@ $25). There are 2 ways to get it. One: apply for it, just call 97597047 (Mr Ang). Two: register courses with “by SciTech” up to a total of $250 and claim a FREE LJ kit (Note: receipts can be accumulated from any CC but must be under the same name and within 12 months from the earliest receipts).
